Abstract:Objective To prepare Gegen Qinlian Colon-specific Capsule based on the traditional Gegen Qinlian prescription, and to investigate its effect in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Methods The traditional prescription was optimized to prepare Gegen Qinlian Colon-specific Capsule, and quality assessment was performed. A rat model of ulcerative colitis was established by 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid, and after successful modeling, the rats were divided into model group, positive control group, simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription group, whole Gegen Qinlian prescription group, and simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription colon-specific Capsule group. After 1 week of continuous administration, these groups were compared in terms of disease activity index (DAI) and colonic mucosal damage index (CMDI) after administration. Results Compared with the model group, the simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription group and the whole Gegen Qinlian prescription group had significant reductions in DAI and CMDI (P<0.05), while there were no significant differences in DAI and CMDI between the simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription group and the whole Gegen Qinlian prescription group (P>0.05). The simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription colon-specific Capsule group had significantly lower DAI and CMDI than the simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription group and the whole Gegen Qinlian prescription group (P<0.05). Conclusion Colon-specific Capsule based on simplified Gegen Qinlian prescription can improve the effect of traditional Gegen Qinlian Decoction in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
