Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Yangxue Yijing Decoction in the treatment of early-stage dry age-related macular degeneration. Methods A total of 50 patients were divided into observation group and control group using a random number table, with 25 patients in each group. The patients in the observation group were treated with oral administration of Yangxue Yijing Decoction, and those in the control group were treated with oral administration of vitamin E soft capsules and vitamin C tablets; the course of treatment was 4 weeks for both groups. The two groups were compared in terms of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and ETDRS visual acuity before and after treatment and eye symptom improvement score after treatment. Results The observation group had a significantly better clinical outcome than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, both groups had significant increases in BCVA and ETDRS visual acuity (P<0.05), and compared with the control group, the observation group had significantly greater increases in eye symptom improvement score, BCVA, and ETDRS visual acuity (P<0.05). Conclusion Yangxue Yijing Decoction has a good clinical effect in the treatment of early-stage dry age-related macular degeneration and can alleviate the degree of macular lesion, increase visual acuity, and improve visual quality.
