Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction combined with neurotrophic drugs in the treatment of primary lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy (LFCN). Methods A total of 60 patients with LFCN were randomly divided into control group and treatment group, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given oral mecobalamin dispersible tablets, vitamin B1 tablets, and vitamin B6 tablets, and those in the treatment group were given Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction in addition to the treatment in the control group. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the degree of pain and numbness and an electromyography evoked potential meter was used to measure the sensory conduction velocity (SCV) of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve before and after treatment, and clinical outcome was observed after treatment. Results Both groups had significant reductions in the scores of pain and numbness after treatment (P<0.05), and the treatment group had significantly better scores than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, both groups had a significant increase in the SCV value of the lateral cutaneous nerve (P<0.05), and the treatment group had a significantly greater increase in SCV than the control group (P<0.05). There was a significant difference in clinical outcome between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Jiawei Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction combined with neurotrophic drugs has a good clinical effect in the treatment of primary LFCN and can relieve pain and numbness and increase nerve conduction velocity.
