Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Zizheng Dihuang Decoction, a famous prescription of Xinan Zhengs Laryngology, in the treatment of adenoiditis. Methods A total of 60 patients with adenoiditis who met the inclusion criteria were divided into treatment group and control group using a random number table, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the treatment group were given modified Zizheng Dihuang Decoction, and those in the control group were given antibiotics. The scores of major symptoms and signs and A/N ratio on nasopharyngeal lateral film (inspiratory phase) were measured before and after treatment. Results There was a significant difference in the distribution of clinical outcomes between the two groups (P<0.05). Both groups had significant reductions in the scores of nasal obstruction, snoring, mouth breathing, and A/N ratio after treatment (P<0.05), and the treatment group had significantly greater reductions in these scores than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Zizheng Dihuang Decoction has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of adenoiditis.
