Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of yang-warming and spleen-strengthening method in the treatment of acute central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). Methods A total of 74 patients (75 eyes) with a confirmed diagnosis of acute CSC were enrolled and randomly divided into observation group (40 patients with 40 eyes) and control group (34 patients with 35 eyes). The patients in the observation group were given self-made yang-warming and spleen-strengthening traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction, and those in the control group were given oral drugs to improve microcirculation (vitamin B complex, vitamin C, and inosine). The course of treatment was 6 weeks for both groups. Central macular thickness (CMT) and logarithm of minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) were observed for both groups before and after treatment. Results Both groups showed a significant increase in eyesight after treatment (P<0.05), and the observation group had a significantly greater increase than the control group (P<0.05). Both groups showed a significant reduction in CMT after treatment (P<0.05), and the observation group had a significantly greater reduction than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Yang-warming and spleen-strengthening method is effective in the treatment of acute CSC.
