Fire needle therapy is a unique external treatment method in traditional Chinese medicine and has various functions of eliminating pus and removing toxin by replacing the knife with the needle. Nonpuerperal mastitis is a common refractory benign breast disease with complex conditions and can lead to abscess and deep blind fistula, and it often lasts for a long time and is difficult to cure. Fire needle therapy might be an appropriate treatment method for this disease, while there are few related studies. By summarizing the clinical experience of ancient and modern physicians in the treatment of nonpuerperal mastitis using fire needle therapy, this article specifies the indication, contraindication, operation methods, and precautions in the treatment of nonpuerperal mastitis by fire needle therapy.
