Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of modified Shenling Baizhu powder in the treatment of children with atopic dermatitis with spleen deficiency and dampness accumulation. Methods A total of 40 patients with atopic dermatitis with spleen deficiency and dampness accumulation were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 20 patients in each group. The patients in the treatment group were given oral administration of modified Shenling Baizhu powder combined with desloratadine syrup, and those in the control group were given desloratadine syrup alone; the patients in both groups were given external application of Dr. Yu Skin Barrier Recovery Essence. Scoring atopic dermatitis (SCORAD) was used to determine the scores of clinical symptoms and signs before treatment and at weeks 2 and 4 of treatment and assess clinical outcome, and eosinophils (EOS) were measured before treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, both groups had significant reductions in SCORAD score and EOS count (P<0.05), and the treatment group had significantly lower SCORAD score and EOS count than the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group had a significantly better clinical outcome (P<0.05) and a significantly lower recurrence rate (P<0.05). Conclusion Modified Shenling Baizhu powder has a marked clinical effect in the treatment of children with atopic dermatitis with spleen deficiency and dampness accumulation and can improve clinical symptoms.
