Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Sanyang Qingjie prescription combined with blood-letting therapy at acupoints in the treatment of influenza. Methods A total of 45 patients with influenza were randomly divided into treatment group with 23 patients and control group with 22 patients. The patients in the control group were given recombinant human interferon-α and oseltamivir phosphate, and those in the treatment group were given Sanyang Qingjie prescription combined with blood-letting therapy at acupoints in addition to the treatment in the control group. The two groups were compared in terms of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score before and after treatment, time to normalization of body temperature, nucleic acid clearance rate, leukocyte count, lymphocyte ratio, C-reactive protein (CRP), and serum amyloid A protein (SAA). Results After treatment, both groups had significant reductions in the scores of cough, throat pain, thirstiness, weakness, and ache in the extremities (P<0.05), significant reductions in lymphocyte ratio and levels of CRP and SAA (P<0.05), and a significant increase in leukocyte count (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the treatment group had significantly greater reductions in the scores of cough, thirstiness, and ache in the extremities (P<0.05), a significantly greater increase in leukocyte count (P<0.05), and significantly greater reductions in the levels of CRP and SAA (P<0.05). The treatment group had a significantly higher clearance rate of viral antigen (P<0.05) and a significantly shorter time of temperature turn to normal than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Sanyang Qingjie prescription can effectively improve clinical symptoms, increase the clearance rate of viral nucleic acid, reduce the levels of lymphocytes, SAA, and CRP, and increase leukocyte count.
