Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect and safety of kidney-tonifying and blood-activating method combined with Western medicine in the treatment of bone metastasis pain. Methods A total of 50 patients with bone metastasis pain were divided into two groups using a random number table. The 25 patients in the control group were treated with oxycontin hydrochloride sustained-release tablets combined with zoledronic acid injection, and the 25 patients in the treatment group were treated with the kidney-tonifying and blood-activating prescription in addition to the treatment for the control group. The pain, clinical outcome of bone metastatic lesions, quality of life, bone metastasis progression-free survival, bone metastasis-overall survival (BM-OS), and adverse events were observed and compared between the two groups. Results The treatment group had significantly better improvements in pain and clinical outcome of bone metastatic lesions than the control group (P<0.05). Both groups had a significant improvement in quality of life after treatment (P<0.05), and the treatment group had significantly better improvements in daily activity, emotion, interpersonal relationship, and sleep compared with the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the treatment group had significantly longer bone metastasis progression-free survival and BM-OS than the control group (P<0.05). All the patients were tolerant to adverse events. Conclusion In patients with bone metastasis, the kidney-tonifying and blood-activating method combined with Western medicine has a better pain-relieving effect and can improve quality of life and prolong progression-free survival and survival time.
