Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture on the attention network function in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods Sixty MCI patients were randomly divided into control group (n=30) and treatment group (n=30). The control group received conventional acupuncture, while the treatment group received Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture. The course of treatment was 8 weeks for both groups. Attention network test was performed before and after treatment. Results After treatment, both groups had significantly increased efficiency of alerting and correct rate of attention network test (P<0.05) and significantly reduced efficiency of executive control and total reaction time (P<0.05); the treatment group had significantly more improvements in these indices than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Tongdu Tiaoshen Acupuncture can recover the cognitive function of MCI patients to a certain degree, and its efficacy is better than that of conventional acupuncture therapy.
